The creek of Eerbeek: The water level at the Veluwe raises and the flow of the creek of Eerbeek is improved by retrieving less groundwater. Both result in a better biodiversity

Nature provides us with enormous services in the form of water, food, materials for building and other applications, and opportunities for recreation. However, as a result the world’s growing population and increasing prosperity, nature’s capital is under considerable pressure. With a true sense of conviction, IWE is therefore happy to play a role in maintaining natural resources. This is the only way to allow future generations to continue to benefit from the economic opportunities offered by nature. Against that background, in November 2016, we became one of the first companies to subscribe to the Natural Capital Business Agreement. You can find details of the arrangements reached at that time by visiting www.natuurlijkkapitaal.com.
In brief: IWE believes that NATURAL CAPITAL needs to be written with capital letters, and we act accordingly. This is a long-term process and not a matter of quick profits. The complex and innovative ‘Sustainable Water Eerbeek’ project has made it possible for water to be reused, while biogas is employed as a replacement for natural gas.
